K-Food Fair Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia Hits 6-Year Milestone o

The K-Food Fair for businesses (B2B), hosted by the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs The Republic of Korea returned for its 6th year at Sunway Resorts Hotel. This annual fair has become a cornerstone to introduce more promising Korean products to the Malaysian market, fostering B2B and B2C connections between the two countries.

The K-Food Fair B2B trade show features a promising collection of trending K-food products with renowned K-Food companies participating in the fair, showcasing a wide array of authentic Korean products. With an expected turnout of 60 Malaysian buyers, the fair provides local businesses a platform for networking, exploring potential collaborations, and expanding business opportunities through B2B Business Matching with 30 participating K-Food exporters.

"We are thrilled to celebrate our 6th year of promoting the flavours and cultures of Korea in Malaysia. With the ever-growing interest in Korean cuisine and products, we believe that this year's fair will strengthen our bilateral ties and contribute to overall growth of the F&B sector in both countries,” said Mr Jang Jae Hyung, Managing Director of  aT Centre Kuala Lumpur.

What makes K-Food Fair 2023 more exciting is that this year, it coincides with the 40th Anniversary of the Look East Policy between Malaysia and Korea. The K-Food Fair 2023 serves as a platform to commemorate the achievements through this policy and further strengthen the bilateral relationship, particularly in the food and beverage (F&B) industry. This aligns with the fair’s mission to promote the Malaysia-Korea strategic partnership in the F&B sector and encourage the growth of Halal-certified Korean products in Malaysia.

In 2022, 20 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) amounting to a total of USD6,420,040 were signed between Malaysian businesses and Korean companies. The collaborations through these signings have not only been financially rewarding but also paved the way for innovative partnerships that benefit both countries.

With this year’s K-Food Fair Kuala Lumpur, the organisers are excited about reaching new heights in fostering strategic partnerships and enhancing cultural exchanges between Malaysia and Korea. It features even bigger opportunities for business collaborations and cultural enrichments, with a focus on promoting the Halal certification of Korean products to cater to a wider audience.

Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners’ Association (MHCEOA): New Tax Policy must have a transition mechanism.

Leong Foo Yew, President of the Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners Association (MHCEOA), has called on the government to provide reasonable buffer periods and support measures for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during the implementation of the e-invoice system and the Sales and Service Tax (SST). This appeal aims to alleviate the dual operational pressures faced by businesses and prevent inflationary effects in the construction sector from being passed on to consumers. The MHCEOA recently held a luncheon to celebrate its 33rd anniversary, during which the 16th term (2025–2028) council members were sworn in. In his speech, Leong highlighted that the industry is currently grappling with administrative and financial challenges due to the simultaneous rollout of e-invoicing and SST. He noted that these additional compliance burdens come at a time when SMEs are already struggling with rising labor costs, wage pressures, and regulatory expenses—pushing many into even...
