KK SUPER MART, a household name that is well-known for its 24 hours convenience stores in Malaysia has partnered with GS25, to enter the Malaysian market in earnest.

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai and Mr. Jae-hyung Jung entered the Memorandum of Understanding

KK SUPER MART and GS25 believe that once the collaboration is successful implemented, it will be another historical collaboration for both parties as GS25 has 16,000 stores in Korea and KK Super Mart has 610 stores in Malaysia. KK Super Mart and GS25 will combine both strengths in customer data analysis through their purchasing behaviour. With the current technology, KK Super Mart and GS25 are able to provide the best services according to customers habits and requirements.

KK SUPER MART and GS25 (operated by GS Retail), signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the opening and operation of GS25 in Malaysia on 9th of July,2022 in the presence of the top management from both companies in Malaysia.

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai highlighted that with the experiences of KK Super Mart and GS25 in convenience stores and supermarkets, both parties will be entering an extremely “strong and solid collaboration” and it will be a very attractive and novel lifestyle convenience store concept.

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai mentioned that Korea has a total population of 53 million and there is a total of 52,000 convenience stores combining various brands in Korea (serve about 1000 persons per shop). Meanwhile, Malaysia has a population of 33 million and there are less than 5000 convenience stores (serve about 6600 persons per shop). It has a very huge growth opportunity in the convenience stores industry.

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai added that we are impressed with the chain store franchise operation model of GS Retail. If we can create an entrepreneurial platform for enthusiastic and passionate young people to give full play to their strengths, it will provide a strong driving force for the country in the future.

This is the philosophy of Suria KLCC’s Signatures Food Court, which is completely new, enlarged, and made safer, all at the same time.  The “original” food court dates to 1998, when the mall opened its doors for business. The last major renovation was in 2005 with extra seating added in 2015 bringing the capacity to 1200. The latest redevelopment, which incorporates the space formerly occupied by Parkson, the total number of seats were increased to over 1,500 but still leaves customers with more elbow room as it considers the need for adequate physical distancing.  More space for distancing is just part of the picture, as the overall dining experience has been upped several notches.
