Although
the festive season this year looked slightly different due to the second
nationwide Movement Control Order put in place, shoppers can still enjoy a
Chinese New Year atmosphere and shop for their necessary items safely at Sunway
Pyramid.
In order to adhere to government mandated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reunion dinners were limited to those within the same household, restaurant dine-ins were not allowed and any travelling for essential purchases were limited to 10km – this all made for a quieter Chinese New Year, a stark difference from the usually bustling cities and towns alight with cheer and merrymaking.
Now,
with the conditions of the MCO being relaxed, Sunway Pyramid would like to
welcome all shoppers to experience the celebratory cheer of Chinese New Year at
the mall with various activities and initiatives put in place.
Sunway
Pyramid General Manager Jason Chin says, “Celebrations this year, albeit a
slightly quieter one has given us time to reflect on what is important and what
matters. At Sunway Pyramid, we want to provide our shoppers the opportunity to
experience some Chinese New Year cheer, and at the same time share our
blessings with those who need it most. While we are still in the midst of
uncertain times, all of us at Sunway Pyramid will continue our efforts to make
it a safe, secure place for those who choose us as their preferred lifestyle
destination. Your safety is our priority, and your safe space is our safe space
too – that is our promise to all our customers.”
The
Orange Concourse will host other trendy fashion outlets such as MPSY and
3Bulbs, as well as skincare specialist Dr Ko. Whether they would like to stock
up on their CNY snacks, buy decorative items or simply purchase gifts to be
shared with loved ones, there is something for everybody at Sunway Pyramid.
Giving
with heart
In
the spirit of celebration and togetherness this ‘Niu’ year, Sunway Pyramid is
doing their part in helping the B40 communities’ wishes come true.
From
26 February to 7 March, Sunway Pyramid is collecting donations from the public
to help other families with their daily necessities, particularly those who
have had their incomes and livelihoods impacted by the MCO.
In
collaboration with the ADUN of Subang Jaya, Michelle Ng, Sunway Pyramid is
targeting to collect and donate RM20,000 to B40 communities of the ADUN’s
choosing. The beneficiaries include single mothers who will receive RM50
vouchers to be spent on essential items according to their needs.
Generous
Malaysians who intend to participate can do so by making a donation of RM5 or
RM10 to get gold coins that they can use to make wishes at the Wishing Well in
the Sunway Pyramid Orange Concourse on LG2. For every RM5 donation, shoppers
will get one gold coin, whereas they can get three gold coins with RM10.
In
conjunction with Chap Goh Mei, which marks the very end of the Chinese New Year
festivities, shoppers who make a donation at the wishing well from 26 to 28
February will be given an extra gift of a mandarin orange in return. Signifying
blessings, the orange can also be used for the shoppers to make a wish for themselves.
