Malaysia Women Marathon 2019 (MWM2019) Inspires Women and the Future Generations

The Malaysia Women Marathon (MWM2019) marks its 7 year establishment and once again organized by Tourism Selangor for this year. MWM2019 will be the major event of Selangor as International runners will be swarming this sporting event. In conjunction of celebrating International Women Day, more than 7,000 ladies have shown interest in MWM2019 since its inception in 2013. To date, MWM has been given an overwhelming to those women as it is the only endorsed Women Marathon in South East Asia.
To commemorate this year’s MWM theme, the art piece “Ode to Women” also known as “Wanita” by Habsah Abang Saufi which is one of Malaysia’s highly regarded artist has been chosen to signify the nation’s unity in supporting women empowerment.

“We recreated her painting into our event t-shirt.  This dedication is wonderfully suitable for a women’s event such as ours as we hope that this theme will recollect our stand towards an issue that we are proud to be associated with, Gender Equality”. Said Madam Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din, General Manager of Tourism Selangor.

"What's more, as though this isn't energizing enough, we would like to proudly announce that we have collaborated with Swarovski Malaysia to create a symbolic medal that is decorated with precious stones from Swarovski. We can’t wait to hand this one of a kind medal to you at the finish line!” She included.

MWM is as yet the main running event for ladies that hold a 42.195km classification. Asides this, there will be a two days activity before the main day event from 28th February to 1st March. There will be various activities on the two days such as a women expo, cultural dance performance, stage performance, booth exhibition and many more. Tourism Selangor will also showcase a special promo price package to Kuala Selangor consisting of tourist’s hotspots such as Sky Mirror, Bukit Malawati, activities at Sekinchan, seafood dinner at Pasir Penambang and also experience the fireflies’ uniqueness at Kampung Kuantan.

Another special feature about MWM2019 is that it is been created for a special system and route for the full marathon to opt for a lesser distance and finish it at 30km. If the runners feel uncertain of finishing the distance although having signed up for it, they can midway through the run and decide to run back to the finish line with a 30km distance instead. Their certificate will, however, indicate a 30km run instead of a full marathon distance. Through the past years, some women may not meet the cut of time and may feel dishearten as being classified as Did Not Finish status.  This system will allow the runners who know that they aren’t able to meet the cut time to choose for a lower distance and still be able to run to the finish line, of course with glory rather than sit in the sweeper bus.  This feature will suit many full marathon runners who are starting to run the distance.

MWM2019 has the capability to promote Selangor as one of the preferred tourism destinations with the advantages of easy accessibility offered here. In addition, sports tourism can be enhanced in sporting events and also provide positive impact towards the state economy specifically hospitality business. With the quality of participants ranging from national to occasional runners taking part in MWM2019, this will support the government effort in promoting the ‘Peduli Sihat’ campaign which focuses on nurturing a healthy lifestyle for a better future.

The Malaysia Women Marathon (MWM2019) will surely bring out the best of Selangor with 7000 runners are expected to participate in this year’s edition. Apart from that, tourism products in the Petaling Jaya district such as Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Lagoon, iCity and many more will gain many benefits from this event as MWM2019 has the potential to attract tourists to come over and experience these tourists’ hotspots. With this year’s target of 7.7mil tourists visiting Selangor, such event can provide contribution towards the increment of tourists hence, boosting Tourism Selangor’s #takemeanywhere campaign.

Lastly, Petaling Jaya district will be this year’s venue. See you in Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya on the 3rd of March 2019!

REVAMPED SURIA KLCC SIGNATURES FOOD COURT FULLY REOPENS WITH ATTRACTIVE PROMOTIONS

When is a food court more than just a mere food court? The answer: When it is designed and constructed according to the best practices that ensures hygiene and unbeatable customer experience, but also incorporate the new norms brought about by Covid-19. This is the philosophy of Suria KLCC’s Signatures Food Court, which is completely new, enlarged, and made safer, all at the same time.  The “original” food court dates to 1998, when the mall opened its doors for business. The last major renovation was in 2005 with extra seating added in 2015 bringing the capacity to 1200. The latest redevelopment, which incorporates the space formerly occupied by Parkson, the total number of seats were increased to over 1,500 but still leaves customers with more elbow room as it considers the need for adequate physical distancing.  More space for distancing is just part of the picture, as the overall dining experience has been upped several notches. For example, from 22 food court outlets and 4 kiosks,
