Malaysia Olympians Association (MOA) Introduces The First and Ever OLY Day In Malaysia To Celebrate the Glorious Moments of the Malaysian Olympians

The Malaysia Olympians Association (MOA) has successfully organised the 'OLY DAY 2022' on the 20th of May. “OLY Day is a new concept designed to engage with existing and new Olympians, it is to harness the Olympic moment and unite Olympians at national level”, quoted from WOA President, Joel Bouzou OLY. The event was graced by the presence of MOA Patron, Y.M. Tengku Dato’ Dr. Hishammuddin Zaizi bin Y.A.M Tengku Bendahara Azman Shah Alhaj.

The MOA pointed out the importance of the Safe Sport Act at the event. MOA strongly believes that all sports should be played in a safe, healthy and secure environment. This is especially close to the heart of MOA and the athletes who are always competing on the battlefield and fighting for our country’s honour. Sarina Sundara Rajah, our former national rhythmic gymnast and the founder of Safe Sport Malaysia was present to support the event.

The MOA called on the public and the government to address the importance of the safety of athletes, so that the sport can be played in a safer mode and environment. The MOA President, Noraseela Mohd Khalid OLY mentioned: “The Safe Sport Act that was presented in the Dewan Rakyat recently by the Youth and Sports Minister - Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, should be a priority to get approval and passed by the parliament . Sport is for all. Not only it plays a huge role in uniting people but also leads them to a healthier and meaningful lifestyle.” The MOA helps, encourages and inspires the country's youth to develop and strive for excellence while adhering to Olympic values and ethics, thus promoting goodwill, understanding and friendship among people.

The event highlighted the presentation of OLY pin and certificate to the new and existing  Malaysian Olympians. The pins and certificates are more than just an award, it is a public recognition of the years of hard work, dedication and promotion of the Olympic values by the Olympians. The event ended successfully with the attendance of the current and senior athletes: Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Jegathesan Manikavasagam, Dato’ Razif Sidek, Dato' Leong Mun Yee OLY, Cheah Soon Kit, Ong Ewe Hock, and other athletes.

MOA also announced their new partnership program with the organisations, Key Risk Consulting Asia as the MOA Data Security Sponsor and Sports Law Association Malaysia (SLAM) as the Legal Advisory Partner.

OLY Day brings the Olympics home, celebrates Olympians, connects them to National Olympians Association (NOA) and Olympian community and aims to inspire young people to take up sport and live the Olympic Values.

The MHCEOA recently held a luncheon to celebrate its 33rd anniversary, during which the 16th term (2025–2028) council members were sworn in. In his speech, Leong highlighted that the industry is currently grappling with administrative and financial challenges due to the simultaneous rollout of e-invoicing and SST.
