Sharing a meal to break fast together is a beautiful tradition. Ramadan does not only give your loved ones and you the chance to catch up, but also provides a moment of togetherness especially after being apart throughout the year.
Thus, The Chow Kit is proud to feature it’s Berbuka platter here at our award-winning restaurant. Hoping to combine the time-honoured tradition of iftar with the convenience of city living, there is no better way to break a well-endured fast than a spread of delicious cuisine heavily inspired by four states in Malaysia served ‘dulang’ style, ensuring meals are freshly prepared from kitchen and served directly to guests.
Available from 12th April to 31st May 2021, the Berbuka platter feeds 2 to 3 guests and allows them to enjoy our special take on Malaysian cuisine with a variety of local Malay flavours. We will be serving an array of sweet Malay delicacies and red dates to get you started, followed by a classic entree to evoke nostalgia; ulam. A mixed Asian salad of sorts, it comes with fish crackers and signature home-made sambal.
The highlight of our menu is definitely the Lamb Kuzi, a Kelantanese recipe consisting of succulent lamb shoulder braised in tomatoes, yogurt, cumin and coriander. The Rendang Tok originating from Perak also takes center-stage; beef marinated in Asian spice, slow-cooked in aromatics, coconut milk, and lemongrass. Providing relief from all that juicy, succulent meat are the spread’s other stars; Laksa Johor, a dry mackerel spaghetti in warm, hearty broth topped with bean sprouts, long beans and ginger. The Gulai Ikan Tenggiri from Terengganu will also delight senses; simmered in belacan, clove and star anise, the mackerel is first marinated in cumin and coriander.
Nasi Bunga Telang too is served to complement these dishes. No meal is complete without dessert, hence we’ve thrown a crowd-favourite into the mix; Sago Gula Melaka. The chewy pearl sago swims in a sweet concoction of palm sugar and coconut milk. Now that you’ve finished strong, wash it all down with refreshing chrysanthemum tea.
For those wanting to indulge in more, we offer a remarkable upgrade; the Seasonal platter. Priced at RM300, it also comes with delicious Ketam Masak Lemak, crab cooked in coconut milk and classic Asian spices, and Assam Udang, fresh prawns in ginger, tamarind, kesum leaves and rich gravy. To guests seeking meals in larger groups, we offer the Family set. Priced at RM500, it comes with all the works and additional Bubur Pulut Hitam, in portions that promise to keep bellies full and hearts happy.
The Seasonal platter feeds 2 to 3 guests, and the Family set feeds 4 to 6 guests. Pre-booking is required. Our dishes are specially prepared - all ingredients are selected carefully to ensure the authenticity of the local dish, and more importantly your safety.
