Hong Kong Trade Fairs in April and May 2019 Strengthening bilateral trade between Hong Kong and Malaysia


Hong Kong and Malaysia have enjoyed robust bilateral trade relations on a range of products and services over the years. Adding to the Hong Kong’s business advantages, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) gathers latest market intelligence and form partnerships to develop business for corporations. The HKTDC organises more than 30 exhibitions in Hong Kong every year with 11 of them being the largest marketplaces of their kind in Asia, of which electronics, jewellery, gifts, watches & clocks and lighting are the world’s largest.

Ms. Hoh Jee Eng, Director, Malaysia, HKTDC announced today that 8 leading trade fairs will be held this year in Hong Kong in April and May, which will offer ideal platforms for traders and suppliers from Malaysia to expand their businesses into new markets. These fairs are:

Malaysia is Hong Kong's 8th largest trading partner.  Until Nov 2018, the total trade value between the two economies reached USD26.4 billion. Malaysia is Hong Kong’s 17st major export market with a total export value of USD 4.1 billion and 7th largest import source with an import value of USD 22.2 billion.

HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition)
6-9 April 2019

Entering its 11th edition, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) will be staged from 6 to 9 April.  More than 1,430 exhibitors are expected to join the fair, presenting global buyers a wide array of lighting merchandise in dedicated theme zones.  In 2018, the fair welcomed more than 20,500 buyers from 114 countries and regions.

The Hall of Aurora continues to gather top-notch brands around the globe to showcase high-quality lighting fixtures. Meanwhile, Smart Lighting & Solutions Zone, showcasing life-enhancing and energy-saving smart lighting products and systems will continue to be our highlight.  Technical Lighting, Horticultural Lighting and Urban & Architectural Lighting further presents lighting products for a wider range of professional use, fulfilling needs in different sectors and facilitating buyers’ search for desired products.

The brand new Innobuild Zone will present latest building solutions, advanced systems, building & decorative materials and related technologies.  Together with other zones such as Advertising Display Lighting, Avenue of Chandeliers, Commercial Lighting, Decorative Lighting, Lighting Accessories and Residential Lighting, the Spring Lighting Fair offers an ideal one-stop sourcing platform to industry players.

HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition)

13 – 16 April 2019

The annual Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) and International ICT Expo will be held concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13 to 16 April.  Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the two fairs will enter their 16th edition to provide an international platform for more than 3,500 exhibitors to showcase the latest electronics, cutting-edge technology and ICT solutions to global buyers.  In 2018, the twin fairs welcomed more than 98,000 buyers from 151 countries and regions.

The popular Startup Zone will return to the twin fairs to feature innovations across different categories such as Apps, IoT, Consumer Tech, eHealth, Robotics and Digital Business. To help start-ups gain exposure and meet potential investors, a series of start-up themed events including Smart Launch sessions, pitching sessions, media pitch day and investment matchmaking sessions will be organised.

As Asia’s largest spring electronics event, the Electronics Fair will feature Tech Hall with 5 thematic zones; AR, VR & MR, Connected Home, e-Health & Wearables, Robotics & Unmanned Tech and the newly inaugurated AI & Voice Recognition zone. Another highlight zone is the Hall of Fame which will showcase internationally renowned brands, including Bourgini, Desay, ezviz, Greatwall, HKC, Roadrover and SKROSS. Key electronics production centres including Mainland China, Korea and Taiwan, will set up group pavilions at the fair.

A series of events will be organised during the fair including the one-day anchor conference Tech Trends Symposium”. Themed under “Roadmap to the Future”, the Symposium will discuss latest technology and application trends in AI and voice recognition technology, robotics, connected home and wise living, wearable technology, as well as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR).

Running concurrently with the Spring Electronics Fair, the ICT Expo is the leading event for cutting-edge smart city solutions and ICT technologies across sectors. Under the theme “Smart City • Smart Living”, the fair will showcase a range of smart city solutions including smart economy, smart government, smart living, smart mobility and smart people. Moreover, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) will share the latest smart city development in Hong Kong at the fair.

A collection of events will be arranged under the daily theme of “AIoT - Next-Gen Connectivity”, “Data as Currency of the Future”, “Smart Living Powered by Technologies”, and “Reinventing Business with Smart Solutions” throughout the 4 days.

HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair cum Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair

As Asia’s leading houseware fair, the 34th HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair will be held from 20 to 23 April and is expecting around 2,200 global exhibitors to showcase a wide range of high-quality household items under sophisticatedly arranged product zones.  In 2018, the fair has attracted more than 29,500 buyers from 112 countries and regions.

To create an easy-to-navigate setting and superior sourcing experience, different product zones are categorised into 4 aspects of “L.I.F.E”, namely “Lifestyle”, “Interior”, “Feast” and “Enrich”. The signature Hall of Elegance, a prestigious space for the highly sought-after designer collections and brand name products, will remain the highlight of the fair.  Other notable zones include World of Fine Decor, where premium home decoration products, furniture and artificial flowers will be highlighted; and World of Fine Dining, which features new designs of tableware, kitchenware and wine tools & accessories.

Held concurrently with the Houseware Fair, is the 10th HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, which is expecting over 300 global exhibitors to create the perfect one-stop platform for buyers to source a vibrant selection of textile products from finest suppliers.  In 2018, the fair attracted more than 19,000 international buyers from 103 countries and regions.

The Home Textiles Fair comprises 7 theme zones with clear product categorisation for easy and convenient sourcing.  The Hall of Glamour, as the premium zone of the fair, is the ideal industry platform for high-end, design-led textiles and furnishings where the most acclaimed exhibitors for bedding, curtains, carpets and towels can be found. HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair cum Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair

Organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA), the 34th HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair will be held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 27-30 April.  This year, the fair will welcome over 4,300 worldwide exhibitors, being the world’s largest fair of its kind and providing effective one-stop marketing and sourcing platform. In 2018, the fair attracted over 48,000 buyers from 139 countries and regions.

Various participating countries and regions will establish group pavilions, namely  Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, United Kingdom and more. The highlighted Hall of Fine Designs will house over 130 high quality brands such as B.Duck and Team Green from Hong Kong, Japanese stationery brand Kokuyo, German notebook brand Leuchtturm and Italian designer brand Pininfarina. World of Beauty, Fitness & Well-being Zone will make its debut to cater to the pursuit of healthy lifestyle.  Other zones include Startup Zone, Corporate Gifts, Tech Gifts, Green Gifts, World of Camping & Outdoor Goods and Figurines & Decorations.  The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA), the fair’s co-organiser, will establish a pavilion to manifest the creativity of Hong Kong’s enterprises.  The HKEA will continue to organise the Hong Kong Smart Design Awards and winning entries will be on display during fair period.  To help buyers explore latest industry opportunities, seminars and forums will be held at the fair, where industry experts discuss hot-button issues such as industry trends and technologies.

Organised by HKTDC and CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Limited, the 14th HKTDC Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair will run from 27-30 April 2019 at the AsiaWorld-Expo.  The fair is expecting over 480 international exhibitors to showcase latest solutions in printing and packaging.  In 2018, close to 16,000 buyers from 109 countries and regions attended the fair.  Representatives from all industries will visit this world-class event, from retail to corporate enterprises, hospitality to healthcare, food and beverage to advertising and everything in between.

Back by popular demand, the “Printing and Packaging Solutions for Fashion & Accessories” and “Innovative Retail Display Solutions” will return to the fair again, highlighting solutions for fashion & accessories with products such as textile printing machines, labels, ribbons; while the latter will present innovative retail display products and services, including digital signage, RFID tags and POP displays, along with other tech-savvy developments. A highly anticipated new zone, the “World of Advertising & Signs” debuts at the 2019 Fair with a range of innovative visual communication strategies. 

HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair
14-16 May 2019

The 10th HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair will run from 14 to 16 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.  Organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA), the fair is expected to attract about 280 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, showcasing latest medical devices and technologies, medical supplies as well as healthcare products.  In 2018, the fair attracted more than 11,500 buyers from 70 countries and regions.

In response to latest market trends, the fair will feature a number of specialist zones to facilitate buyers’ sourcing needs. The debut of “Biotechnology” zone presents the latest biotechnology products and services, including vaccine research and development, allergy tests, and genetically engineered drugs.

Amidst growing awareness of the importance of personal health, the “World of Health & Wellness” will return in 2019 to present lifestyle, cosmetology and fitness products, as well as functional foods and health supplements.  The “Startup” zone will also return and showcase the creativity of regional start-ups, allowing them to meet with buyers and potential business partners to explore new business opportunities.

Other themed zones include “Building Technology and Hospital Furniture”, “Medical Supplies and Disposables”, “Rehabilitation and Elderly Care” and “Hospital Equipment”.
