Slim Chickens Malaysia Is Officially Here – And It’s Bringing Southern Hospitality (And 12 Sauces) To Asia

If you’re a fan of juicy, crispy chicken tenders and love dipping them into something new every time you visit, listen up. Slim Chickens Malaysia has just made its official debut, and this isn’t just another launch – it’s the brand’s very first entry into Asia.

Yes, you read that right. The globally recognised fast-casual chain, known for its Southern-inspired flavours and cooked-to-order fresh chicken tenders, has officially landed on our shores.

Two Outlets Down, Many More To Go

On Wednesday, the Slim Chickens Malaysia team marked not only their official launch but also the opening of their second outlet – this time at NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur. Their first outlet opened in SS15, Subang Jaya back in 2025.

The event was officiated by the brand’s senior leadership team, including Marketing Director Shuen Chiu, Halal, Supply Chain and Quality Assurance Manager Amirul Ashraf Ravi, Operations Manager Sanggari Athimulam, and NU Sentral’s Head of Retail, Alice You.

“We’re Not Fast Food, K-Fry, or Grilled Chicken”

So what makes Slim Chickens different? According to Shuen Chiu, it’s in a category of its own: fast-casual chicken tenders.

“Slim Chickens stands in a category of its own – the fast-casual chicken tenders category: we are not a fast food, k-fry or grilled chicken restaurant,” she shared at the launch.

“Instead, our focus is on creating light, crisp, flavourful, juicy tenders from authentic fresh chicken tenders, paired with a variety of 12 different house-made sauces for different tastes, in an environment that’s fun to hang out with friends and family alike.”

Malaysians Know Their Chicken – And They’re Coming Back

Chiu also noted that Malaysians have discerning palates, and the response at their first outlet has been proof.

“Our returning customer rate is high, and our biggest fans are those who understand and care about quality and flavour. We’ve been motivated by this and will continue to deliver premium craveable food with the best quality, clean flavours and consistency, at an affordable price.”

Beyond the food, Slim Chickens is leaning hard into what they call “Southern hospitality” – kindness, warmth, and a welcoming space.

“We believe that food brings people together,” Chiu added. “Stay tuned to keep updated for more of this coming your way.”

Halal-Certified, From Kitchen To Supply Chain

For local diners, here’s an important note: Slim Chickens Malaysia has obtained halal certification for its operational premises. The brand maintains strict internal controls across its entire supply chain – from sourcing halal-certified ingredients to food prep and kitchen operations.

What’s On The Menu?

Slim Chickens offers a broader menu than many in its segment. You’ll find:

  • Chicken tenders (made fresh to order)

  • Sandwiches

  • Chicken wings

  • Fresh salads

  • Unique side items

And of course, the star of the show: 12 different house-made dipping sauces, so you can try a new flavour combination every single visit.

Big Plans For Malaysia – And Beyond

Slim Chickens isn’t stopping at two outlets. Chiu confirmed that the brand aims to open at least another 9 to 12 outlets across Malaysia over the next 2 to 3 years as part of a sustainable long-term expansion plan across Asia.

Globally, the brand is on fire. In 2025, Slim Chickens saw nearly 25% growth in restaurants worldwide. There are currently more than 300 outlets globally, with the UK and EU being the fastest-growing markets. As of August 2025, over 1,000 locations were in development worldwide. New markets for 2026 include Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines.

Why Now? The Malaysian Food Scene Is Booming

The launch comes at a perfect time. According to Mordor Intelligence, Malaysia’s foodservice market was valued at USD16.67 billion (around RM67 billion) in 2026 and is expected to hit USD30.74 billion (approximately RM124 billion) by 2031 – a compound annual growth rate of 13.05%.

Drivers include rising consumer spending power, steady economic growth, and the increasing use of mobile ordering apps.

Final Bite

Whether you’re a self-proclaimed “Slimthusiast” (yes, that’s what their biggest fans are called) or just someone who appreciates a really good chicken tender with a side of warm hospitality, Slim Chickens Malaysia is now open at NU Sentral and SS15.

And with a dozen sauces to work through, you’ve got at least 12 good reasons to keep coming back.

Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners’ Association (MHCEOA): New Tax Policy must have a transition mechanism.

Leong Foo Yew, President of the Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners Association (MHCEOA), has called on the government to provide reasonable buffer periods and support measures for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during the implementation of the e-invoice system and the Sales and Service Tax (SST). This appeal aims to alleviate the dual operational pressures faced by businesses and prevent inflationary effects in the construction sector from being passed on to consumers. The MHCEOA recently held a luncheon to celebrate its 33rd anniversary, during which the 16th term (2025–2028) council members were sworn in. In his speech, Leong highlighted that the industry is currently grappling with administrative and financial challenges due to the simultaneous rollout of e-invoicing and SST. He noted that these additional compliance burdens come at a time when SMEs are already struggling with rising labor costs, wage pressures, and regulatory expenses—pushing many into even...
