If you care about sustainability, supply chains, or the future of Malaysia’s economy, today is a big deal.
The Malaysia Waste Management and Recycling Expo 2026 (MYWARE) and the Malaysia Logistics and Warehouse Expo 2026 (MYLOG) have officially opened at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). Running concurrently, these two events are all about turning waste into wealth, greening our logistics, and pushing Malaysia closer to its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets.
Officially Opened by MITI’s Deputy Minister
The launch ceremony was officiated by YB Tuan Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), with YBhg. Datuk Wira Dr. M Noor Azman bin Taib, Secretary General of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, also in attendance.
In his speech, YB Tuan Sim Tze Tzin stressed the urgent need to combine circular economy practices with logistics efficiency. He said:
“Modern logistics must embrace green logistics—from warehouse energy efficiency and sustainable packaging to reverse logistics. The future supply chain is one that minimises waste and supports a circular economy. This synergy aligns with the MADANI Economic Framework, ensuring industrial growth goes hand in hand with environmental responsibility.”
He added that these two expos are meaningful because they bridge two critical industries, adding:
“These platforms are vital for technology adoption and regional collaboration. I believe these exhibitions will unlock new investments that strengthen Malaysia’s global competitiveness.”
The Shocking Truth About Malaysia’s Trash
YB Tuan Sim Tze Tzin dropped some eye-opening numbers: 40% of Malaysia’s daily trash—around 15,000 tonnes—is actually high-value plastic, paper, and metal.
In global supply disruption terms, that’s not trash. That’s stranded wealth.
“Each time a plastic bottle is buried, we lose raw materials that electronics factories currently struggle to import. In monetary terms, Malaysia is losing RM500 million of national wealth every year through these discarded materials.”
To fix this, MIDA and MITI are moving beyond just setting targets. The new New Incentive Framework (NIF) and National Investment Aspirations (NIA) Scorecard now turn ESG performance into a measurable driver for business growth.

The synergy between these two industries is clear—efficient logistics systems are essential in supporting sustainable waste collection, recycling operations, material recovery, and green supply chains.”
