Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners’ Association (MHCEOA): New Tax Policy must have a transition mechanism.

Leong Foo Yew, President of the Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners Association (MHCEOA), has called on the government to provide reasonable buffer periods and support measures for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during the implementation of the e-invoice system and the Sales and Service Tax (SST). The MHCEOA recently held a luncheon to celebrate its 33rd anniversary, during which the 16th term (2025–2028) council members were sworn in. In his speech, Leong highlighted that the industry is currently grappling with administrative and financial challenges due to the simultaneous rollout of e-invoicing and SST. He noted that these additional compliance burdens come at a time when SMEs are already struggling with rising labor costs, wage pressures, and regulatory expenses—pushing many into even...

In a landmark step towards a greener Malaysia, ATLAS Vending, the vending machine arm of Etika Sdn Bhd, and the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SW Corp) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at SW Corp’s headquarters in Cyberjaya. This public-private partnership unites two national leaders in a shared mission to scale up recycling infrastructure, embed sustainable habits into daily life, and make green living more accessible. Under the agreement, SW Corp will adopt 50 ECOPODs—the Guinness World Records-recognised reverse vending machine (RVM) hailed as the world’s thinnest with a can compaction system. These units will be deployed at strategic, high-footfall locations identified by SW Corp, such as wet markets, hospitals, and universities. The ECOPOD’s sleek, space-saving design allows it to fit seamlessly into these often congested environments, making recycling convenient without adding to space concerns. Unlike conventional machines, ECOPOD combine...
