Pickleball in Malaysia Just Got Bigger – Here’s What You Need to Know About AmBank Championship 2026

If you’ve been following the local sports scene, you’ve probably noticed that pickleball is on fire right now. And guess what? It’s about to level up again.

The AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship is returning for its second edition, taking place June 19–21, 2026 – and this year, things are looking seriously exciting.

Bigger Numbers, Bigger Energy

Let’s start with the stats that matter. This year’s tournament is aiming for 600 participants, up from 500 last year. And the prize pool? It’s jumped from RM50,000 to RM66,000. That’s not just a small bump – it’s a clear signal that competitive pickleball is gaining serious ground in Malaysia.

The action will go down at PLAYA Racquet Club @ PARC Subang, a venue that’s quickly becoming a home base for racquet sports lovers.

More Than Just a Game

Organized by Score Sports Management (SCORE) and powered by AmBank Group, the championship is designed to push pickleball beyond its recreational roots. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, there’s a place for you.

The tournament features Novice, Intermediate, and Open categories, with events in:

  • Men’s Doubles

  • Women’s Doubles

  • Mixed Doubles

The format is a group stage followed by knockout rounds – so every team gets decent match time, and the best of the best will rise to the top.

“We’re seeing real momentum in pickleball, and the next step is to raise the standards of competition and overall experience,” said Patricia Tan, CEO of Score Sports Management.
“This championship is about creating a platform where players can compete seriously, while keeping the sport accessible and inclusive.”

A Community Affair, Not Just a Tournament

Here’s what I really love about this year’s event – it’s expanding beyond competition. Organizers have teamed up with TogetHER and TogetherGather to bring in wellness elements like workshops, fitness sessions, and vendors focused on health and mindfulness.

So even if you’re not competing, you can still show up, break a sweat, learn something new, and soak in the atmosphere.

Playing for the Planet Too

In a super thoughtful move, the championship is also going green. Trophies will be made from recycled plastic and repurposed timber in collaboration with Natureloop, plus pickleball-themed charms from reused materials. Small touches, big message.

Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners’ Association (MHCEOA): New Tax Policy must have a transition mechanism.

Leong Foo Yew, President of the Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners Association (MHCEOA), has called on the government to provide reasonable buffer periods and support measures for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during the implementation of the e-invoice system and the Sales and Service Tax (SST). This appeal aims to alleviate the dual operational pressures faced by businesses and prevent inflationary effects in the construction sector from being passed on to consumers. The MHCEOA recently held a luncheon to celebrate its 33rd anniversary, during which the 16th term (2025–2028) council members were sworn in. In his speech, Leong highlighted that the industry is currently grappling with administrative and financial challenges due to the simultaneous rollout of e-invoicing and SST. He noted that these additional compliance burdens come at a time when SMEs are already struggling with rising labor costs, wage pressures, and regulatory expenses—pushing many into even...
