Castrol Doubles Down on Malaysian Cub Prix & Launches New Scooter Oil for Daily Riders

If you follow two-wheel racing in Malaysia, you’ve probably heard of the MAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship. It’s one of the toughest proving grounds for both riders and machines.

That’s why Castrol Malaysia just announced a major expansion of its sponsorship—and at the same time, dropped a brand-new engine oil designed specifically for modern scooters.

Bigger presence on the track

Under the new arrangement, Castrol has extended its championship sponsorship to cover both the CP150 and CP125 categories—two of the top underbone (“cub”) racing classes in the country.

On the track, Castrol’s power is represented by Yuzy Racing, which will now field:

  • 3 bikes in the CP150 category

  • 1 bike in the CP125 category

This move gives Castrol a broader presence across multiple displacement classes, reinforcing their commitment to rider development and pushing technical performance standards even further.

New oil for everyday scooter riders

Alongside the racing news, Castrol also introduced Castrol POWER1 ULTIMATE Scooter 10W-40—a premium fully synthetic engine oil built for modern scooters.

Why does that matter? Because daily scooter riding in Malaysia isn’t easy. Think: stop-start traffic, high heat, long hours on the road. That’s a tough environment for any engine.

This new oil is formulated to handle exactly those conditions. It helps deliver smoother acceleration while providing sustained protection under load—so your scooter stays reliable through prolonged urban riding.

What Castrol says

Joshua Tan, Head of Marketing for Malaysia, Singapore & Philippines:

“Cub Prix is one of Malaysia’s most competitive two-wheel racing platforms, where both rider and machine are pushed to perform consistently. By extending our sponsorship across both the CP150 and CP125 categories, we are reinforcing our presence in a setting where performance is continuously tested under race conditions.”

He added that the same focus on consistency goes into the new scooter oil:

“With our 5-in-1 Full Synthetic technology, we are introducing a premium solution designed to deliver smoother engine operation and enhanced protection against heat and wear in real-world riding environments.”

Gan Wee Kiong, Country Sales Director for Malaysia, Singapore & Philippines:

“For Castrol, what we learn in motorsports helps us develop better products for everyday riders. With the scooter segment continuing to grow in Malaysia, the introduction of Castrol POWER1 ULTIMATE Scooter reflects our focus on supporting both racing performance and the needs of daily riders.”

When and where can you get it?

Castrol POWER1 ULTIMATE Scooter 10W-40 is currently undergoing final regulatory approval. It’s already being produced at Castrol’s Port Klang facility, and is expected to be available in the Malaysian market from May 2026 onwards, following SIRIM certification.

(SIRIM certification is a regulatory requirement for engine oils in Malaysia, ensuring products meet national quality and performance standards.)

The bottom line

Whether you’re chasing podium finishes or just trying to get through rush hour traffic, Castrol is betting on the same thing: consistent, reliable performance. Their expanded Cub Prix presence proves they’re serious about racing. The new POWER1 ULTIMATE Scooter oil proves they haven’t forgotten the daily rider.

Keep an eye out for it starting May 2026.

Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners’ Association (MHCEOA): New Tax Policy must have a transition mechanism.

Leong Foo Yew, President of the Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners Association (MHCEOA), has called on the government to provide reasonable buffer periods and support measures for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during the implementation of the e-invoice system and the Sales and Service Tax (SST). This appeal aims to alleviate the dual operational pressures faced by businesses and prevent inflationary effects in the construction sector from being passed on to consumers. The MHCEOA recently held a luncheon to celebrate its 33rd anniversary, during which the 16th term (2025–2028) council members were sworn in. In his speech, Leong highlighted that the industry is currently grappling with administrative and financial challenges due to the simultaneous rollout of e-invoicing and SST. He noted that these additional compliance burdens come at a time when SMEs are already struggling with rising labor costs, wage pressures, and regulatory expenses—pushing many into even...
